Primary Responsibilities
- Offer legal support and assistance across various departments within Marco
- Participate in internal due diligence processes for Marco’s prospective clients, while proactively monitoring their business activities to identify, flag, and mitigate potential risks.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse array of complex financing agreements, primarily focusing on supporting and advancing our operations in the U.S. and Latin America.
- Conduct legal research on transactional, regulatory and compliance matters to assist in the preparation of strategic advice on legal, compliance and regulatory issues affecting the company’s business lines, including advising on regulatory frameworks, and assist in audits procedures
- Draft and assist in the preparation of legal documents, including financing modification agreements, repayment plans, legal notices, demands, acceleration, and other equivalent documents ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal policies
- Work with the legal team and outside counsel in the establishment of appropriate licenses, authorizations, policies, and procedures necessary to meet all regulatory and compliance requirements for the company’s actual or proposed business activities, and manage the ongoing monitoring of such requirements
- Support Marco’s legal team in the U.S. and Latin America across all fronts and help grow the team moving forward
Qualifications
- Qualified to practice law in a relevant U.S. or Latin American jurisdiction
- 4+ years of experience within a corporate law practice, financial services firm, bank, law firm or relevant in-house experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to provide sound, clear legal advice to senior executives and other senior leaders
- Sound business judgment and adaptability to manage multiple wide-ranging matters and conflicting deadlines
- Ability to work comfortably in fast-paced environments, collaboratively and cross-functionally
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency in written and verbal Spanish and English is a must
- Highly desirable:Experience in regulatory and compliance matters related to the cross-border financing industry
- Experience in drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial, financing, and related agreements
